The number of laser hair removal treatments varies from person to person and depends heavily on the spot to be treated. Between 5 and 8 sessions may be required for maximum results. The number of treatments is strongly determined by, among other things, your hair and skin color, hair thickness and the number of hairs per skin surface area. This is different for every person and our specialist will advise you to achieve the optimal result for you. During a free intake interview you will already get an indication about the number of treatments you need for the desired result. Another factor that plays a major role in determining the number of treatments needed to achieve maximum results is the growth cycle of the hair. To better understand why more laser treatments are needed, we would like to give you more explanation about this hair growth cycle.
The light from the laser device we use at Solution Clinic is focused on melanin, a substance (pigment) that gives the hair its natural color. Melanin is produced in that active growth phase of the hair. The hair follicles can be destroyed with laser light if the hair is in the active growth phase. There are three different stages of hair growth:
At the end of this phase, the growth cycle starts again. The hair follicle becomes active and produces hair again.
The hair roots can only be destroyed in the “active” growth phase of the hair. Only 15 of the hairs are during the first treatment in the active growth phase. More treatments are therefore needed to find and destroy as many hairs as possible in the active phase.
Please note that between each treatment session a break period is required to give the skin rest.
